Kicking

  • Kicks (Keri-Waza)

Kicking techniques add dynamic range and versatility to Shotokan karate. Practitioners train a variety of kicks that target different heights and directions, including front kicks, side kicks, roundhouse kicks, and powerful thrusting kicks. These techniques require balance, flexibility, and precise control to deliver speed and power while maintaining proper form. Learning the names and pronunciation of each kick helps students become familiar with the traditional language of karate while developing stronger technique and confidence in their training.
