All karate classes are billed through a monthly draft via the YMCA from September 2025 through August 2026.
To stop or pause the draft, please contact a Member Engagement Representative either in person or by phone at least one week before the start of a new month.
The Dragon Warriorz program introduces children to karate by teaching basic skills and techniques in a fun, engaging environment. Classes combine foundational karate instruction with interactive games that help build confidence and self-esteem. Students are also introduced to basic karate terminology in both English and Japanese.
Children should wear athletic clothing or a white karate gi. They should be prepared to remove their shoes and socks before class.
While uniforms are not required for Dragon Warriorz, many families choose to purchase a gi through us.
Progression in Dragon Warriorz is based on class attendance rather than skill testing:
• Students earn a colored stripe on their belt every 8 classes.
• After earning two stripes of the same color, a corresponding colored belt can be purchased for $12.
If a new belt is not purchased, additional stripes will continue to be added to the original belt, and rank will still be recognized.
• Choose Youth/Adult Karate if your child is athletic, confident, and learns quickly.
• Choose Dragon Warriorz if your child is new to organized sports, feels nervous, or needs help with focus and structure. This program offers a more relaxed introduction to karate.
This program follows the AJKA curriculum and includes Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Students progress based on skill development and mastery of techniques, while also learning karate terminology in English and Japanese.
Students may wear athletic clothing for their first few classes. A plain white karate gi is required within the first month of training.
Uniforms can be purchased with cash or check (payable to Bucks County Karate School).
Students advance based on their proficiency in techniques and curriculum requirements at each level. Advancement is achieved through formal karate testing, where students demonstrate their skills to move up to the next rank.
Once you pass your yellow belt exam, your journey toward black belt officially begins. As you progress, you will participate in more sparring, attend tournaments, and have opportunities to join seminars.
If you have not already purchased sparring gloves or a sparring gear package, this will be your next step.
